In a nut shell
I loved swimming in a pool which in 2023 is 90 years and in original condition. This pool originally had a high diving tower and the deep end is 5 meters I met some great staff here who made the visit even more enjoyable. For lap swimmers a great place in the inner west of Sydney to experience a pool made in the 1930’s and still stands the test of time.
Background
As swimming became more popular in the early 20th century with success by the early legends of Fanny Durack, Mina Wylie, and Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton at the 1912 and 1924 Olympics councils continued to seek funding for their own pools. Enfield is one of the original ‘4’ (Granville, North Sydney, Bankstown, and Enfield) pools which were designed to the Olympic standard (meters not yards).
Opened in 1933 the Enfield Olympic Swimming Pool was the first freshwater chlorinated public pool in Sydney. It funded by the former Enfield Council as a public works initiative to reduce unemployment during the Great Depression of the 1930’s.
The original pool also had a high diving tower with the former Australian diving champion Harry Tickle being the diving instructor and president of the Enfield League Swimming Club.

The Pools
The feature of this facility is the 50 m outdoor (non-heated!) and toddler pools. Later additions include heated 25 m, program pool and kids splash park.
