What Micky thinks
-
Access - OK for those in the inner west, slight drive from the east of Sydney. Accessible by bus 466,502.
-
Value - $7.70 for adult is reasonable compared to others and the pool quality, consider $3.90 parking per hour in the overall cost. The parking officers are often on site , so save yourself a fine!
-
Water quality - high standard, clean, clear salt/chlorine combination
-
Amenities - Average; no café and change rooms just OK when compared to other sites.
-
Surroundings & Experience - Its the views and great pool which make this a worthwhile visit.
In a nut shell
This is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets. I have swum here for many years, always good lane availability. Great option for inner west residents and families as an alternative to the other pools around the area. For keen swimmers a great place to get some distance.
Background
One of the older salt water pools in Sydney opened in 1937. Upgrade in 1961 and remodelled in 2008 with new change rooms and lift.
This was the home of the Cabarita Ladie’s Amateur Swimming Club with 6 members being part of the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. This included Olympic gold medallist Lorraine Crapp.
There is the main 50m pool, smaller pool and toddlers pool and decent green area for relaxing. There is wheelchair access via a lift. The water is heated at a comfortable 27°c.
Opening Hours
6:00 AM – 7.30 PM
This is a seasonal pool, open September to late April.

Cabarita is a lovely experience for those who like to do their laps with a view and not a lot of competition.
